Moles Overview

Moles. They can appear and grow for a wide variety of reasons. What would you say if I told you there was a completely natural way to remove raised mole that is also nearly pain free?

AND you probably already have everything you need to do it?

Sound too good to be true? Read on!

Moles can affect your appearance, appear in unfortunate places, and can catch on your clothing. Or, in my case, my baby found the one thing on my face to pick at and did so every day until I couldn't stand it anymore. [1]

I hear that going to get them burned, frozen, or shaved off by a mole removal dermatologist can be pretty painful. One of my friends said it took her 2-3 weeks to stop hurting. That didn't sound so fun to me.

I researched extensively for a week. Found quite a few methods I could try, but not many actual experiences with it, which of course made me skeptical. So I turned to Youtube.

Success! Bless modern day methods and people's openness and ability to journal something like this. I found 2 or 3 videos of people trying one particular method. Apple Cider Vinegar removal. So I tried to remove a mole with apple cider vinegar.

Before we get to the instructions and my photos, let's look at some of the science behind why it works. Trust me, it's easier to know some of the science when you start this. People will ask questions and provide you with a heavy dose of their skepticism. Better to be armed. Am I right??

What are Moles?

What Are Moles

According to the study, Moles are also known in the medical world as “melanocystic nevus”. [2]

A melanocyte is a kind of cell that is located all over the body, including the base layer of the skin, the iris of the eyes, in your ears, and in your brain tissues. They are responsible for producing and maintaining melanin in the body.

“Nevus” means a grouping of the same kind of cell. So, in short, a mole is a group of melanocytes.

How Apple Cider Vinegar works?

Is It Safe to Remove Moles? Apple Cider Vinegar has a long standing history of being a miracle worker in almost anything health related.

According to the study, Apple Cider Vinegar kills harmful bacteria, destroys fungus, balance PH levels, and that's just the start. [3]

For skin issues it can treat a very wide variety of issues including eczema, moles, warts, skin tags, acne, and so on.

Apple cider vinegar contains several different kinds of acid and enzymes that work together to provide numerous health benefits in the body. The particular benefit of mole removal is thanks to the active ingredient in apple cider vinegar, acetic acid.

It is really important that you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that your mole is not cancerous. Removal of a cancerous mole is very different than that of a regular one. If your mole fits any of the following or is in a spot that you can't see it with your own eyes, go get it checked.

A - Asymmetry. If the mole is not even and symmetrical...think lumpy or globby... it need to be seen by a professional.
B - Border. If it doesn't have a clear, clean border, or if it looks fuzzy or unclear where it starts and ends, then it needs to be looked at.
C - Color. Color is a huge indicator of cancerous cells. A healthy mole will have even colors of natural skin tones. If your mole is not uniformly colored or has non skin tone colors, go have it looked at
D - Diameter. Size is important. Is your mole bigger than a pencil eraser? Go see the doctor. Not all large moles are cancerous. But it's better to be safe than sorry.
E - Evolving. Is your mole still growing? If so, then it's not safe to remove it by yourself.

How to Remove a Mole with ACV?

There are many variations of this method. Things to add to the vinegar, how long you should leave the vinegar on, etc. I even saw several places where it was recommended that you score the mole with lancet to help the vinegar get a little deeper (I didn't do that, nor do I recommend it)

The following is the most simple of them all and the method I used. It worked very well as you can see from the photos below.

1. Choose your vinegar. It is important that you use Apple Cider Vinegar. Other vinegars do not have the same enzymes. It is recommended to use the highest quality ACV you can find, meaning raw ACV with the mother. The good stuff wasn’t available where I live so I used regular and it worked but you’ll see below I had a minor complication because of that.
2. Break off a piece of cotton ball just large enough to cover the mole.
3. Soak up some ACV into the cotton, squeeze out the excess.
4. Place the cotton over the mole. Cover with a band-aid.
5. Leave on overnight.
6. Remove band-aid and cotton in the morning. Clean the area, and let it air out during the day.
7. Repeat every day until the mole falls off. Do not pick the mole scab off (That hurts!!)

Alternative method - For some the overnight method is a bit too much. An alternative way to do it is dip a cotton swab in the vinegar and 5-6 times a day for about 5 minutes dab it over the mole. This method takes quite a bit longer. I did see videos and photos claiming this method worked but took closer to a month.

My Experience with ACV Removal

Day 1-3 - Nothing exciting happening. By day 3 was seriously wondering if it was working, if i should give up if I didn't have the right kind of vinegar.

Day 4 - There was change FINALLY. In the morning it had turned white and by dinner time it was black.

Day 5-9 - Mole stayed the same color but shrunk considerably. I had developed an itchy rash around the mole. I believe it is from not using good quality ACV.

Day 10-12 - On day 10, the scab started peeling away. On day 11, I was getting pretty eager for this thing to fall off so I picked at it a little. Day 12, after a long shower it was barely hanging on. This was the most painful part of the process. I pulled it off the rest of the way.

A month later - I'm extremely pleased with the results. As you can see there is a bit of a scar, but it is flush with the skin and can easily be covered with makeup. In time, I'm confident it will turn the same color as my skin.

If natural mole removal is of interest to you, I can confidently say that the process was worthwhile, and I would consider doing it again. However, don't forget to have yours checked by a professional before starting the natural mole removal. These are among the best skin tag and mole removers.
